Going back to the mid-2000s, a number of people received spam email with forged headers that implied a connection to us and often offering cheap computer equipment or other dubious items. Back then, lots of people (newbies and others) didn't realize how trivial it was to trick email systems into accepting forged headers and email addresses, and vented online about it. (It turns out the kids who can barely program can use forgery tools.) Other folks found that an old mailing address we used had been taken over by some other company, and imagined that we were somehow connected. Nope. No such thing. We've never sold computers (and don't plan to). We don't plan to rip off anyone, and are not spammers. We are saddened that some miscreant has tried to scam the public, and is defaming our good name in the process. Most folks have moved on, but trying to correct online information is difficult at best. Still, to try to set the record straight, (a) we don't send out spam, (b) we don't sell cheap equipment, and (c) we don't have any control over who rents a mail box after we've vacated it. For some examples of what we DO actually do, you can visit educational or biomedical research sites we support |
